Interview with Matt from RelientK

Jeeves: "This is Jeeves here, with the Matt, the lead singer from Relient K, am I right?!?"

Matt: "Yeah, I think you're right on, man."

Jeeves: "Okay, just kinda, to start off, where...what does the name Relient K mean? I'm sure you get that a lot."

Matt: "Yeah, umm...it's an eighties car, made by Plymouth. And I used to drive one, and...my guitarist, who's name's also Matt, he used to drive one, and all our friends just made fun of us for driving 'em, so, we just kinda named our band after it."

Jeeves: "Good stuff."

Matt: "Yeah...it's kind of a dumb name."

Jeeves: "Is there any one message you guys wanna get across every night, like, you get out there and you're like, this is what I want the people to know."

Matt: "Yeah, umm...basically, we're not the best preachers and everything. Our music definitely does have a message, and our goal as a band is to support the ministries that are already going on, like, the youth ministries and stuff that we're usually playing for. So...(Dave Baysinger from Bleach stops by to make a funny face for the tape recorder) Thanks Dave. So usually, I mean...we just want to support what the youth pastor has to say and stuff like that. But, we also wanna make Christian punk rock music fun."

Jeeves: "Ahh...that's my dreams, too. But...how long have you guys been together, performing, and are there any fun stories from the past; I'm sure there has to be."

Matt: "Oh, we've got some stories! We've been together for about two years...let's see...something really crazy happened. We cover the song "Charles In Charge", and the guy who played Buddy on that show, we got a chance to meet him, when we were recording our record. What he does now is this thing called Bibleman. He's a superhero, and he dresses up, and he... it's kinda crazy stuff. But we had a chance to meet him, and, actually recorded him saying some stuff for our record, so..."

Jeeves: "That's quality, man. That's good stuff."

Matt: "Yeah! It was awesome!"

Jeeves: "Alright, I guess to wrap it up, is there any one question that you've never been asked, but you wish, you know, 'I wish these guys would ask me this question'. What is it?"

Matt: "Hmm...I probably...wish that somebody would ask me if I've ever had plastic surgery to make my legs the same length. But no one's ever asked me that question."

Jeeves: "Okay, and on that note, what's your favorite song? I'm kidding! (Nervous laugh from all involved) Have you ever had plastic surgery to...make your legs the same length, that is?"

Matt: "...No."

Jeeves: "...Okay. And umm...okay, then, what's your deepest, your favorite song that you guys do and it kinda grips ya right here?"

Matt: "Let's see...my favorite song. I dunno. I like 'Hello McFly' a lot. I just think it's cool. It just sums us up as a band. It's about Back to the Future and how I wish I could go back to my past and fix my mistakes, and...I just like the references to Michael J. Fox, I think it's kinda funny, so...that's probably my favorite song."

Jeeves: "That's cool. That's key, man."

Matt: "Right on, Jeeves."

Jeeves: "Alright, thank you very much, and I guess that's about it for this

one. Any last words?"

Matt: "Umm..not really. Radishes?"

Jeeves: "Yeah! Right on."
