Album Review
This adventurous fruitful collection of songs is
bound to grab a hold of anyone willing to give it
a heartfelt listen. With a new dark dreamy sound
The Listening have finally crafted a sound they can
call their own. They have unleashed a truly great album.
In which I hope many many people will get a chance to
hear.
From the opening track "Glory of the Feared" it is
obvious why they felt a need to change their identity.
The keyboard on the opener is mesmerizing. And Gabriel's
vocal delivery only makes the song more addicting.
By allowing the instruments time and space to stand out
is the biggest difference from past efforts. They no
longer force things to happen, everything seems so much
more natural and unforced. These guys have hit full
stride
and I have a feeling they are only going to get better.
The striking guitar line on "Triple Fascination"
along
with the great keyboard tones really captures the mood
of the song. The drums also really give the song some
power.
This one is by far my favorite.
The subtle tension that exists throughout the
instrumental
"Prelude in C Minor" really helps lead into the next
song.
Song after song they seem to do no wrong. The Listening's
compositions on this one are often warmly haunting and
seductive. We can only hope that this isn't the last we
have
heard from this new found indie powerhouse.
