Album Review
Points for Originality! In fact, they’ve inspired me to coin a new phrase…remember this in the future when it’s sweeping the nation…Pop-Hop. Catchy, huh? Although I can offer few point for production value (sounds as if it was recorded on an 8 track studio in someone’s garage), it’s at least memorable. The vocals are a bit of a male Britney Spears sound, but the light pop sound combined with the White-Boy rap is one that I’ve not heard before. There’s fairly good energy, and there appears to have been some degree of thought in the actually writing of the music. They seem to have taken some pains in removing themselves from the sound that permeates most of todays “artists”. They’ve found a style and they stick to it. I was waiting for a deterioration into familiar sounds, but it never came. The vocals are strong and distinct, the guitars are lively, but the drums sound like a child’s play set. As a first release, they could’ve done worse…but there’s great potential to get better. If they don’t abandon the sound in their heads, you may hear more of them in the future.
