Album Reviews
The
freshman release “Sing” by Seattle native Aaron Spiro is
worshipful and humble. One of the best traits of his
music is his beautiful voice. It is a mix between Frank
Sinatra and Peter Furler (Newsboys). The relaxed, almost
lazy crooning style combined with the driving energy of
songs such as the chorus of “Thrill” combine to give that
impression. His tone has a pleasant gravelly quality that
hits the spot.
The songs are simple and a bit repetitive, but this can
be an advantage. For example the lyrics “All that I know
of true/Begins and ends in You” (Begins and Ends in You)
spiral pleasantly in one’s head, conveniently supporting
the circular idea presented in the words. The lyrics of
songs such as “Pray Like Breathing” and “Beautiful”
clearly state truths and Biblical principles that we as
Christians know well but sometimes forget.
The one problem with this record is that there is nothing
unique or particularly outstanding in it. However, Aaron
Spiro’s gorgeous voice and worshipful focus make for an
enjoyable and pleasant listening experience.
