Album Reviews
I
remember back in high school when I picked up Audio
Adrenaline's Bloom and thought it was pretty cool. A few
years later, when I heard
Underdog,
I was impressed with the band's growth. And now, with
their latest release Lift, Audio Adrenaline has shown
that they are committed to raising the bar each time.
Lift,
with lead singer Mark Stuart's unmistakable vocals,
certainly sounds like Audio Adrenaline. But the band as a
whole has found a much more mature and relaxed sound.
They still rock out, they still groove, but they also
sound more refined and in control of their sound.
Likewise, the lyrics are as personal and real as the
spirit of worship in which they are presented. Audio A
steers clear from the cliché lyrics that plague
countless mediocre Christian bands. Guitarist Tyler
Burkum also has some great riffs. A few of them, like
'Tremble,' are even reminiscent of
U2's
The Edge.
Lift
is not about trying to lure in the casual listener with
some catchy pop hooks. It is an album for the Audio
Adrenaline fan that wants to hear them at their best.
You'll need to listen to many of the songs on Lift a few
times before they really sink in, but the patience is
well worth the wait. I cannot recall being so satisfied
with a Christian music album since Third Day's
Time
a few years ago.
It
is difficult to find a band like Audio Adrenaline that
continues to improve with each recording. Are they one of
the best bands in music today? Debatable. Do I look
forward in anticipation to their next album? Absolutely.
~Marc A.
From their earlier days
in the mid 80’s, to the Festival Con Dios tour in the
summer 0f 2001 Audio Adrenaline has been a favored rock
band. Audio Adrenaline carries on with their sixth studio
album “Lift”. One notable change for the band is in
the lineup. Bob Herdman, a founding member, has taken a
hiatus from the band to head up Flicker Records. At the
same time, he still helps with song writing and studio
work.
“Lift” has all the
energy of “Underdog” with fresh new tracks like
“Beautiful,” “Rejoice,” and the rock anthem
“Ocean Floor.” A favorite track of mine is “You
Still Amaze Me,” because of the feeling it gives me. By
my interpretation, the song says that no matter what
Audio Adrenaline (the band) has done, whether it be hit
records, sold out concerts, or starting a new company,
there is still an awe of God’s power in their lives.
Coming in a close second is “I’m Alive,” because
that’s the feeling this peppy techno-infused guitar
rock song gives me.
Audio Adrenaline gets
another A for their continued excellence.

Audio
Adrenaline returns with their sixth studio album, Lift.
According to lead singer Mark Stuart, Lift is in
the same vein as bloOm, the group's first Gold
certified record. Listeners will hear a more serious, and
vertical message in the title track and in songs like
"Ocean Floor," "You Still Amaze Me"
and "Glory." Their trademark youth group
friendly appeal is still evident in anthems like
"Rejoice," "Lonely Man," and
"Summertime." Definitely building off the
momentum generated by their greatest hits record that
included the smash hit "Will Not Fade," Lift
is powerful guitar pop that pleases the ear throughout
the entire length of the album. I give this album an A.
