Album Review

Circleslide's debut, Uncommon Days delivers a solid collection of 11 modern rock gems that is sure to have youthful audiences talking.

Prior to signing with indie label Centricity Records, the band successfully released the four-song EP Connectology in 2004, capturing the attention of their fans and also garnering interest from several other record labels.

Uncommon Days is characterized by the songs hooky melodies and expressive guitar riffs, and covers the musical gamut, including alternative and rock. Standouts include the emotive plea of "Get Up," the catchy "Home" and melodic and thoughtful "Noah."

The band borrowed the name Circleslide from The Choir's 1990 release, "Circle Slide," and even brought in Steve Hindalong and Derri Daugherty to help with recording and writing for the project, and their contribution is evident in the quality and feel of the album.

Prior to getting signed, Circleslide won first place in a 2003 national competition, sweeping the "Contemporary Christian Band" category during the Gospel Music Association's annual Music in the Rockies in Estes Park, Colorado.

Already playing more than 200 dates per year throughout the United States, Circleslide's live performances earned the band a spot on 2004's ShoutFest Tour with Tait, Petra, ZOEgirl, Jump5 and others.

Listeners can expect hopeful messages combined with a modern rock sound, but Uncommon Days will also go beyond the traditional Christian rock boundaries.
